2 Chainz recently told Rolling Stone that he’s dropping a new “in-depth” album this year which will contain more emotion and story-telling than we’ve come to expect from him. During the interview he mentioned that he has kept in a lot of emotions and experiences from his youth which he feels need to be let out and this new album is the perfect outlet for him as it will “unlock” his heart.  “Just some more emotion on this album. It is going to be more personal, it's time for that. I got a things that are hard for me to communicate about, but music is very therapeutic for me. I have some things that I just really, really need to get off my chest, and by me not actually having a counselor — the booth is that for me,” he told Rolling Stone. The upcoming album is titled BC (Before Chainz).

During the same interview the Atlanta-based rapper talked about ColleGrove, his collaboration album with Lil Wayne which dropped a month ago, on March 10, 2016. 2 Chainz hyped the album saying that although he enjoys the newer melodic rap (think Young Thug, Rich Homie Quan and Future) he and Lil Wayne created an album which contains a lot more rap as opposed to melodic mumbling. He mentioned that there was competition between him and Wayne which pushed them to step their game up. He mentioned that their creative process bears similarities as neither one of them writes their lyrics down, hence he never knew when Wayne was thinking of raps in the studio.

You may have noticed that ColleGrove credits 2 Chainz as the primary artist despite Wayne appearing on all but 2 tracks (3 in the deluxe version). This is because due to Wayne’s ongoing dispute with his label Cash Money Records which did not allow him to release the project. Hence 2 Chainz released it under his label as a solo project with Wayne being credited as a featured artist. “The whole project is like a dedication to my dog, contrary to what he's going through or what he has been through, holmes really like the godfather of a lot of styles that's going on,” Chainz said in reference to Lil Wayne. “It ain't my business what he's going through. I just know what the people miss, and I know what I miss, I know what the game miss. We wouldn't have a lot of this stuff out here if bruh didn't do what he did for the game.”

The project did well on its release peaking at the number 4 position on the US BillBoard 200. It also boasts a loaded line up of producers including Mannie Fresh, London on da Track, Zaytoven, Metro Boomin, and Mike Will Made It. You can listen watch the video for Bounce below.
